Just Patty,
by Jean Webster

9/5/10

9/5/10

Read in the wrong order—or rather, this is a prequel published later.  More funny than Patty at College.  Cute, but can’t touch DDLL.

Dear Daddy Long Legs,
by Jean Webster

9/6/10

9/11/10

Still love it!  Sweet and light and funny.  And the sequel is wonderful, too.  Deeper, surely, but I have a special spot for DDLL.  Started me on the JW craze, but these two are the best so far.

Good in Bed,
by Jennifer Weiner

9/12/10

9/21/10

Pretty decent chick lit, recommended by Mom.  Knew I wouldn’t have time for the books, so got the audio version.  What do I think?  Veered off of original premise, but mostly believable. Funny, too.

Dear Enemy,
by Jean Webster

9/12/10

9/20/10

Better every time I read it!  This book probably made me want to be a teacher, thinking that managing little lives would be fun.  Didn’t realize back then that teaching is loads different than being an administrator in an imaginary world.  But—love the book!!  Always and forever.

A+

K

The Mermaid Chair,
by Sue Monk Kidd

9/23/10

(Still reading—or rather, listening)

AB

How to Talk so Kids Can Learn,
by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish

9/25/10

9/30/10

Pretty good—makes me want to read the original parenting one too (How to Talk so Kids Will Listen and Listen so Kids Will Talk).  Based on the premise of acknowledging students’ feelings, rather than brushing them off.  Makes sense but seems to take a lot of extra one-on-one time that’s hard to come by at school.  Food for thought.
