I’ve seen this recipe all over the internet recently–on Pinterest as Pepperoni Rolls, on Plain Chicken‘s blog as Crescent Pepperoni Roll-Ups–and I thought I’d share my own take on it: Mini Calzones. I got the idea a couple years ago from Stolen Moment‘s blog (original blog post for Stuffed Breadsticks here.)
Simple and yummy!
- 1 can refrigerated dough (crescent rolls, pizza dough, breadsticks, etc.)
- pepperoni slices (8 big pepperonis or 16 small pepperonis)
- 4 string cheese sticks, cut in half
Separate the refrigerated dough into eight equal pieces. If you’re using crescent dough, re-shape the triangle into a rectangle. Place the pepperoni slices and string cheese on each piece of dough.
Wrap up each mini calzone, pinching the ends together to seal in the cheese and pepperoni.
(Unlike the Pinterest pin, I like the cheese to be entirely enclosed so it won’t leak out.) Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes, or according to the package.
Voila! Mini calzones 🙂
You could use a lot of different fillings–slices of ham, or steamed vegetables, shredded chicken, etc.!
