WIWW: January 20-26, 2013

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time!  I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, and now in 2013 I’m adding a bit about my days to go along with the outfit.  So these weekly check-ins are a nice journal of my life too!

Sam and I led our small group at church, with the topic of Music – it was fun, if a bit nerve wracking to “lead” a group.  Beautiful weekend weather, and the walk to and from church was so nice.

I did NOT have MLK Jr. Day off… and casual dress didn’t exactly make up for it.  I was determined to have a good day even though Sam was sleeping in… which I did.  But the day didn’t get off to a great start when the buses were all on holiday hours – which meant delays and packed buses passing by my stop with no room for new passengers.  Finally I had to run by the ATM and catch a cab… but I was only about 15 minutes late to work.

black pleated top with lace neckline // Loft
octopus necklace // Betsy Johnson via eBay
cardigan // Ann Taylor
black pants // Banana Republic
black heels // PayLess

This outfit didn’t photograph well, but I really liked it all day.  The top was a fun mix of lace and pleats, and the neutral black-on-black look is not really something I usually wear.  The necklace was really fun to wear, too!  Worked out at the gym after work.

grey pants // old
black slingback wedges // PayLess

Hump Day!  It’s hard to see… but right behind my hand, you can just barely see Cora standing on her hind legs and looking out the window.  Even if she’s not caught in the pictures, she’s always around!  Normal working day, and went to the gym after work.

Later in the day (while I was trying on workout gear in a dressing room) I decided that I liked the top better untucked.

mustard pleated dress // Deep South Pout
neutral floral cardigan // Banana Republic
maroon tights // Gap
brown ankle strap wedges // PayLess

I love this fun dress from Deep South Pout!  I’m still trying to figure out how to pair colored tights with dresses, and I did like the maroon instead of black, but I’m still not sure if it really looked right together.  After work, my co-workers went out for Pub Trivia and it was a lot of fun.  Sam was awesome at the music round!

white cami underneath // Old Navy
initial leaf necklace // Etsy
skinny jeans // Kohl’s
taupe boots // eBay

Casual Friday!  Worked out on my lunch hour, which was a really nice way to wrap up the week and take a deep breath in the middle of the day.  Fun plans for Friday night – we went to see a live taping of the Judge John Hodgman podcast as part of the SF Sketchfest.  Good times!

grey polka dot scarf // Groop Dealz
turquoise beaded cuff bracelet // eBay
skinny jeans // Kohl’s
grey Toms // Nordstroms

Saturday, finally!  Slept in, ate a leisurely breakfast, finished a book… my favorite kind of lazy morning!  Sam spontaneously decided to mop the kitchen floor, and that sparked a mini Spring cleaning – dusting, scrubbing, and purging commenced.  There’s no better feeling than enjoying the weekend with a clean house!  We wrapped up the day by watching Searching for Sugarman – such a great documentary, I highly recommend it!

I’m linked up to The Pleated Poppy for WIWW!
