WIWW: February 24-March 2, 2013

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time!  I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, and now in 2013 I’m adding a bit about my days to go along with the outfit.  So these weekly check-ins are a nice journal of my life too!

grey leopard print cardigan // eBay
pave bead necklace // Everyday Icing
grey tights // Gap
silver flats // Payless

I’ve been trying to mix patterns more lately – so this is my attempt.  The dark grey leopard print still felt like a neutral paired with the striped dress, and the dark grey tights balanced it out a bit.  We went to church and Sam led small group.  We ran a few errands later in the day, then settled in to watch the Oscars.  Sam and I had ballots filled out with our guesses for each Oscar – it was fun to follow along and keep track that way!  I predicted 17 out of 24 correctly – and Sam even won the pool at his office!

green cardigan // Ann Taylor
circle bead necklace // eBay
brown bow skinny belt // eBay
grey pants // old
nude heels // PayLess

I bought this green cardigan at one of Ann Taylor’s sales, and I thought it would be easy to match with everything when I wanted a pop of color – but I’m finding that it’s harder than I thought.  I knew the greens in this outfit didn’t match, but as the day went on I liked the color combo less and less.  So I’m still trying to come up with something that will go with this cardigan better – I’m thinking maybe navy blue would look better.  I had a doozy of a Monday at work – lots of new changes in technology, and all day it seemed like it took twice as long to do half the work.  Went to the Bar Method after work, and it was such a nice stress relief.

geometric print dress // Mark via eBay
geometric necklace // Everyday Icing
black cardigan // old
herringbone braided belt // eBay
black tights // Walgreens
ankle strap heels // eBay

I love this dress!  eBay can be so hit and miss – but this find has turned out to be a favorite.  Tuesday was a very blah day – the best part was working out again after work.

black tee with polka dot yoke // Loft via eBay
red cardigan // Target
herringbone braided belt // eBay
black pants // Banana Republic
black flats // Sperry’s via eBay

I found these shoes on eBay and thought they were the answer to my versatile-black-flats dilemma (my go-to pair are on their last legs).  Unfortunately… these shoes tore up my heels and I’m still wearing band-aids a week later!  eBay can be so frustrating… I’m always drawn in by the prices, but several duds in a row can add up to one regularly-priced pair of shoes if I had just started at a shoe store.  Ugh.  But Wednesday was better otherwise- met up with my Book Club after work at a mediterranean place in a new neighborhood.  It was fun to find another street full of cute shops and restaurants, and to catch up with the girls (we all liked Dark Places by Gillian Flynn, and next month’s choice is The Paris Wife, by Paula McLain).

quatrefoil necklace // Groop Dealz
plum tights // Gap
black flats // PayLess

Work finally lightened up and I was able to catch up on everything that had piled up.  This tank dress is so easy to wear – perfect for all seasons, and easy to pair with any color.  I went with neutrals to match Cora’s calico today!  Went to the gym after work and then the highlight of my week – pizza and Project Runway!

skinny jeans // Old Navy via eBay
silver flats // PayLess

Finally Friday!  I had a sweater picked out to wear, but the temps were supposed to be in the 70s so I threw this top on at the last minute.  I was surprised to walk out the door and find fog!

It was so pretty and cozy – it doesn’t come to our neighborhood that often, but it stuck around the city for a few hours before it warmed up.  I worked out on my lunch hour, which is always a nice way to end the work week.  Sam and I had breakfast for dinner – and I had a mimosa to start off the weekend!

Saturday!  Laundry was too frustrating to deal with (only one machine to share with 20 neighbors…), so we skipped out on cleaning for the day and went to the Walt Disney Museum instead (details on our visit here).  It was so nice to get out of the house – and since it was overcast and cold all day, it was the perfect excuse to browse a museum.  I’ve been feeling restless lately – and this definitely filled that urge to go out and just do something.  We wrapped up the night watching West Wing on the couch – my favorite kind of Saturday night!
