Unlike the Dowager Countess, I know a weekend when I see one.
In fact, I just had a pretty great weekend… nothing particularly special happened, we didn’t go anywhere, we didn’t spend a lot of money, but it was filled with happy moments. I’m not sure what’s changed, but something has shifted in my thoughts and lately I’m feeling rather content with where I am in life – for once there are no major life changes on the horizon, and I’m just enjoying the day to day.
I’d like to remember this sunny weekend – in pictures (and a few words):
Let’s start with Friday – I won this huge framed picture in our office raffle! Now to find a place for it…
I needed some music to get me through the afternoon – after a late lunch with the co-workers, we were all a little sleepy!
Friday night, breakfast for dinner.
Saturday – I woke up early, read a book while eating breakfast (my favorite), and ran a few errands. I sneakily snapped a pic of this lady leaving the local cat clinic – there’s a cat in that rolling backpack!
I worked on a new addition for my nautical wall – more wonky improv piecing!
Grilled cheese and ham for lunch, courtesy of Sam.
Saturday afternoon, I needed a break. The weather was so nice – warm and breezy. I decided to test out the fire escape – and lucky me, it’s the perfect place to get some sun and read a book!
I set up a picnic blanket and a box of necessities – a book, skittles, and my phone.
I even wore shorts for the first time since I’ve moved here – my legs are blinding! (That’s what Instagram filters are for – much more flattering!)
(Cora was jealous, of course.)
Saturday night – tacos and margaritas! Rouge always makes me feel fancy – must be the chandeliers!
Sunday morning – worked on a couple Pinterest-inspired projects. Vinegar was involved.
And completely separately – green for St. Patrick’s Day! (Posts coming soon… gotta get my thoughts typed up.)
The time change put us a bit off schedule so we didn’t make it to church in time for the service, but we went to small group after a quick lunch. No matter what mindset I’m in before going, I always feel so refreshed afterwards.
My favorite part of Sunday is walking home – we’re always full of conversation after small group discussions, the weather has been really nice lately, and I love the buildings and people watching in our neighborhood. We stopped by the pet store for food and litter.
I love the fancy pigeons, too.
I talked to my parents on the phone Sunday afternoon. Sam deep-cleaned the litter boxes and I vacuumed – not my favorite chores, but at least the place feels super clean afterwards. The cats weren’t very grateful, but we hung out with them anyway.
(Warning: blurry action shots ahead.)
For dinner, we made fettuccine alfredo and watched West Wing.
It was a pretty perfect weekend.
Makes me want to move down the street!
