WIWW: March 10-16, 2013

Another edition of What I Wore Wednesday!

The Amateur Librarian // What I Wore Wednesday

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time!  I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, and now in 2013 I’m adding a bit about my days to go along with the outfit.  So these weekly check-ins are a nice journal of my life too!

Yet another gorgeous Sunday – look to this post for more details on my idea of a perfect weekend.  As for this outfit: I really like the idea of this dress – stripes and red/navy, and the coral necklace that I’ve been holding onto for so long that looks just perfect and subtly nautical to go with the stripes (for some reason the necklace clashes with everything else I’ve tried.) But.  The black elastic waist band on this dress is annoying – I can’t quite figure out how to wear it.  If I pull it up right above my waist, the top is baggy; if I pull it down to wear it naturally sits – right on top of my stomach – it emphasizes the widest part of my body in a very unflattering way; and if I pull it down to my natural waist, the top is all of a sudden stretched and awkward looking.  So.  I can’t decide if I should keep this dress or not.  When it first came (from eBay of course) I was horrified but stubborn and hid it in the closet for a couple weeks.  When I tried it on a second time, it wasn’t so bad as I remembered.  So… to keep or to donate?  For now, it’s in my closet.  If I don’t wear it again in the next couple months, it will probably migrate to the donate pile.

A bad case of the Mondays, sponsored by Daylight Savings.  The time difference kicked my butt… it was finally getting light enough to see what I was doing when I got up in the morning, but now it’s back to darkness.  How can one little hour make such a big difference?  I was late all week long and groggy to boot.  But at least this neutral outfit was easy to throw together.

I turned off my alarm and promptly fell right back asleep.  What a great way to start the day!  I do love this dress though, and especially my new ankle boots!  My latest favorite eBay purchase (until the next one comes along…)

Everything I had picked out to wear today ended up on the floor on my closet.  I just could not figure out what to wear, until I pulled out this top and threw on a blazer.  I needed to look professional for a business lunch, and everything seemed to lean too much toward casual instead of “business casual.”  But in the end, this worked fine.  Went to the gym after work.  It unexpectedly worked out to meet up with a childhood friend who was in San Fran on business. (Aren’t we so grown up now, travelling for business?)  Her hotel was right in Union Square, so we walked around a bit and ventured underground to a sushi place.  It was fun – and weird – to see each other after many years and catch up like it was just another family vacation, except this time our parents and siblings weren’t just a room away.

Casual dress at work.  I love the versatility of this chevron necklace – mint on one side, and I’ll flip it over sometimes to show the silver.  I find myself adding this necklace more often than I would’ve expected – usually on the silver side – but today I was feeling minty!  Went to the gym after work.

I finally, finally went to the gym every single work day!  It’s been a personal challenge ever since I started going regularly to the gym again (Knock on wood – 2013 new year’s resolution, going strong!) But  I finally, finally did it – going every single day of the work week!  Something has come up every week to make me cancel a class or two, but the stars aligned and I actually did it!  Now for two weeks in a row…

The best thing about working out on my lunch hour on Fridays is coming home right at 5 PM.  Sam works later hours, so normally I get home right at the same time when I go to the gym after work – but on Fridays I have a couple blissful hours to catch up on trash tv.  I get my fill of Teen Mom 2 and E! News and develop an appetite for our weekly dinner out.  Friday night is the best feeling ever.

Green for St. Paddy’s Day parade and festival!  Great Saturday – beautiful weather for the festivities, a lazy afternoon, dinner and drinks in North Beach, ending the night with a stroll through Chinatown (More details here.)
