WIWW: March 24-30, 2013

Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!

The Amateur Librarian // What I Wore Wednesday

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time!  I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, and now in 2013 I’m adding a bit about my days to go along with the outfit.  So these weekly check-ins are a nice journal of my life too!

The day after our nine-mile bike through Golden Gate Park, Sam and I were exhausted!  The weather was so nice that I dug out some short sleeve clothes from storage (under-bed bags) and it felt like I had a whole new wardrobe!  Of course, the weather has been cold and rainy since but I’m prepared should any warm weather make another appearance!  I made potato chowder for lunch so we would have leftovers during the week.  Sam and I both got hair cuts – Before & After below!  I’ve been trying to grow my hair out, so even though only a couple inches were taken off, it made a difference and took a few days to get used to the new length.  I definitely needed some more layers, so hopefully it will grow back again quickly.

Another Monday!  I love this cardigan – it actually ends up going together with a lot of different tops.  Can you tell I’m trying to encourage Spring to stick around with my springy colors?  After work, I worked out at the gym.

color block animal print dress // Loft
red cardigan // Target
monogram necklace // Etsy
black tights // Walgreens
ankle boots // eBay

I bought this dress a couple weeks ago as a potential candidate to wear for a wedding we’re attending in a few months.  But when I washed it, the outer layer shrunk while the bottom layer did not – so if you look closely at the hem, there’s a line of black that is actually the liner.  I decided it wasn’t a huge deal and tried it at work to see how comfortable it would be for an all-night event – and it passes the test, especially because I don’t have to add a belt.  But I think for a summer wedding it would look cuter without the cardigan, and probably with some cute black sandals instead of ankle boots – if the weather in Seattle cooperates, that is.  What can I say, I like to plan ahead!  After work, I went to the gym again.

green geometric print top // Belk
half circle necklace // Everyday Icing
black pants // Banana Republic
black heels // PayLess

I’m finding this necklace to be much more versatile than I originally thought – I’m glad I bought it, even if I was having buyer’s remorse at first.  It’s more interesting than a string of beads with this throw-together outfit.  A print top + black pants + blazer = a sure sign that I was running late to work.  But other than that, it was a great day!  Wednesday seven years together with Sam!  (He always asks when I’m going to stop counting our dating anniversary but the answer is always… never!  I love anniversaries!)  After work, I went to the gym again.

grey cardigan // Forever 21
rice pearls // inherited
grey tights // Gap
black flats // PayLess

Another milestone day – one year since I’ve started working in SF!  Woohoo!  It’s hard to believe how much has changed in a year.  Book club after work – we read The Paris Wife by Paula McLain and everyone loved it!  Lots to discuss, too – Highly Recommend especially with a book group.  And actually, another milestone – I went to my first meeting with book club on the same day I went in for an interview with my current job!  So one year of working = one year of book club too!  This easy dress was great for work and public transportation and book group, all in one day.

green polka dot top // Loft
owl necklace // inherited
black skinny jeans // Kill City via eBay
studded flats // eBay

Is it weird that I pretended these polka dots were little Easter eggs?  I like to wear holiday-appropriate attire, even if it’s only in my mind.  The office closed at 3 PM so I got caught up on my guilty-pleasure reality tv before Sam got home.  After a couple hours on the couch, I felt like a lump on a log, so I did some cleaning too – I usually hate cleaning during the work week, but it sure was nice to wake up Saturday and already have a few things crossed of my list!

skinny jeans // Old Navy via eBay

A drizzly day means no shoes!  The only thing on my feet were fuzzy slippers until we went out for dinner – and then it was my polka dot rain boots.  I had a cozy day at home, the highlight of which was watching Ten Things I Hate About You.  But honestly, I was kind of down because my really good friend was getting married in MS and we couldn’t go.  When we first moved out here I thought we’d be flying back and forth all the time, but it just isn’t that easy.  (Although, really, I’m not sure what I expected.  That money would start growing on trees?  That I would find a job with unlimited paid vacation days?  That the distance would magically shrink to a two-hour flight with no time difference?)  But anyway, we celebrated with our drink of choice during college – amaretto sours.  So the day wasn’t a total waste!
