Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!
What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, and now in 2013 I’m adding a bit about my days to go along with the outfit. So these weekly check-ins are a nice journal of my life too!

Another sunny day for church and small group. This easy dress doesn’t really need any accessories, so I threw on a cardigan and was out the door. There are always errands to run on Sunday afternoons, and I try to catch up with my long-distance friends on the phone. We are totally hooked on Game of Thrones – we finished the first season within a week and started on the second.

I couldn’t decide if I should wear this tunic tucked in or out… with tunics, I really have to watch proportions since I’m petite.
I went with tucked in:

polka dot tunic // Loft
pearls // eBay
open front blazer // Loft
skinny pants // Loft
black flats // PayLess
Work was fine – an improvement after the last stressful week. I worked out afterwards. When I was home from work, Sam realized that it was the comedy open mic night at a local bar, so we headed over there for a few hours of BBQ and stand-up comedy. (More details in this post.)

Black and gold – I felt like I was channeling my high school mascots the yellow jackets. I tried on a bunch of patterned cardigans with this dress – leopard print, floral, swirls, etc. – but in the end, I liked the plain black to match the tights. I feel like the necklace was competing with the other patterns, but on its own makes more of a statement. This dress makes me feel super cute, and comfortable at the same time. Win-Win! I went to the gym after work again.

At first this emerald green cardigan seemed hard to pair with other colors, but I’m starting to figure it out. I like the green/grey combo, and it feels similar to the green/navy combo that I tried and liked a couple weeks ago. I planned to go the the gym after work, but spontaneously cancelled my class to go out with co-workers for happy hour. It was fun to get to know the girls better and take a break from the normal routine. Sometimes I feel like I don’t truly take advantage of my unfettered life – I go to work, go to the gym, go home to eat dinner every single night – but I don’t really have any obligations at home, and Sam is always fine with last minute changes, so I could definitely break out of my routines a bit more.

black tank dress // Loft
tie die cardigan // Calvin Klein via eBay
mint chevron necklace // Groop Dealz
grey tights // Gap
ankle boots // eBay
blue-tipped flats // gift
I bought this tank dress on a whim last summer because it was on sale at the Loft. I didn’t really need another black dress, but it’s one of those impulse buys that has become one of my favorite staples. It’s easy to dress it up with a cardigan and heels for work, but it’s super comfortable and easy to wear. I always head to work in flats, change into heels at the office, and by the end of the work day I’m usually back in flats. It’s good to have options! After work, I went to the gym.

Friday was quite a day. This top fit the bill – fancy enough that I didn’t need accessories, and versatile enough to go from casual dress at work to the hospital to the comedy club. I worked a half day and headed to the hospital for an infusion – luckily there wasn’t much of a wait, so I was out the door by 5:30. I wouldn’t normally plan to do anything the night of a doctor visit, because I’m usually pretty groggy from some of the meds, but we had already bought tickets to see Brian Posehn at a local comedy club. The grogginess is probably what led to me leaving my phone in the cab… ugh! But it woke me up pretty quickly, and luckily the cab driver came back with my cell before the show started. The show was great, though, and the best part was knowing that I could sleep in the next morning!

black skinny jeans // Kill City via eBay
black studded flats // eBay
My favorite kind of Saturday – a mix of productivity and leisure. Got some cleaning done, worked on a quilt, and took a bus to the SOMA food truck park for National Grilled Cheese Day (more details in this post). Cora was my little shadow – she followed me from room to room and ended up in my fashion diaries too.
