You may remember my previous experience with vinegar – lackluster to say the least, and I questioned Pinterest’s claim that vinegar is the cure-all for every little thing. But now, I’m a believer. Vinegar really can clean!
This pin claims that a combination of vinegar and dish soap cleans the shower better than any store-bought cleaner, and using the mixture in a sponge wand makes it even more convenient.

Squeaky Clean Shower Routine
Time: 5 minutes, once a day or once a week
Cost: $5 if you don’t already have supplies on hand
Supplies:
- vinegar
- dish soap
- scrub wand
Instructions:
Last Saturday morning, I set out my ingredients before I showered. (Side note – Does anyone else clean the bathroom every Saturday morning? I used to hate that chore growing up, but now I love a clean bathroom first thing in the morning to start off the weekend.)
There’s really nothing to it – half vinegar, half dish soap. Any kind will work, and the proportions don’t have to be exact. The dish soap scent overshadows the vinegar, so there’s no need to worry about your shower smelling like an Easter egg.
This stuff really works! There has been a gross orange water stain near the drain since the day we moved in, and no amount of scrubbing with Chlorox or a Mr. Clean magic eraser has been able to remove it… but this did the trick with no elbow grease at all! I was officially sold. No more soap scum or mold, and no harsh chemical smell either.
Now I keep the scrubber wand in the shower at all times – and right before I get out, I do a quick sweep in the corners and along the edges. When I put the wand back, I just make sure that the sponge part is horizontal or pointing up, so the mixture doesn’t seep out the top.

Super simple maintenance, and the shower stays clean all the time! I call this is a huge Pinterest Win!
I have been wanting to try this one too! I will have to do it this weekend, now that I know it acutally works! Thanks!
