Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!
What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, and now in 2013 I’m adding a bit about my days to go along with the outfit. So these weekly check-ins are a nice journal of my life too!

Comfort was the name of the game for a trip to Ikea – a mecca for urbanites, but the journey is exhausting! Public transportation on the way there was fine, but we ended up waiting over an hour for the bus on the return trip. When we got home, I tried out a Pinterest recipe for a quick dinner. Then it was time to wrap up the weekend and prepare for the new week – wash the dishes, portion out vitamins and pull out clothes for the week, get a few packages ready to mail. And as a reward for all that puttering around – our favorite Sunday night TV shows.

Even though I diligently planned outfits for the whole week, when I woke up Monday morning nothing looked right. I had a bad case of the Mondays for sure. I tried on a hundred shirts and finally settled on this – not exactly revolutionary, but it works in a pinch. I ended up ditching the blazer for most of the day, and I actually liked the outfit more without it. Work was crazy as usual, and working out at the gym afterwards was a much needed stress relief.

Easy peasy outfit for a busy day at work. The week had just begun but I was ready for a vacation already! Went to the gym after work.

Happy birthday to me! Cora woke up bright and early to say good morning. I love this print dress, and I was even pin-spired to match it with a pop of blue jewelry. I actually ended up wearing heels at the office. I had a great day turning 26 – Sam and I met up at a food truck for lunch, and after work I skyped with my parents. (I even got to blow out a virtual “candle” through the computer.) For dinner, we went to my new favorite Italian restaurant Allegro Romano. The waiters always make a big fuss over us, and they kept bringing free appetizers, dessert, and an endless supply of wine.
Bonus! It still (always) gets cold at night, so a scarf and coat was necessary.
I even got a rose at dinner… a perfect way to end my birthday!

My rose would’ve been in better shape if a certain feline didn’t knock it over during the night… sigh. I like this top a lot, except that it wrinkles. Boo! So it will either have to be casual or tucked in for now on. Another annoyance is these pants – they fit perfectly the first day I wore them, but they’ve stretched out so now the waist sags and the knees bag. Double boo! So basically, I really liked this outfit in theory but reality was disappointing. Oh well… at least the day was good. The office celebrated May birthdays with lunch out, which was especially nice with the sunny walk to and from the restaurant. After work, I went to the gym.

Casual Fridays are even sweeter before a long weekend! Somehow the day passed by quickly, and after work I went to the gym again. Since we were leaving early the next morning, we had a low-key night with pizza and TV.

Napa Valley adventure on Saturday! We started out bright and early, and visited four wineries before the day was done. The tour was great and everything was taken care of – even breakfast and lunch was included. When we got back to the city, we did some shopping in Union Square and ate dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. By the time we got home, we were exhausted. It sure was sweet to sleep in the next day, knowing that Monday was a holiday!

Especially loved the stripes/polka dots top, the floral dress, all the jewelry, and the birthday story!
