Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!
What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, and now in 2013 I’m adding a bit about my days to go along with the outfit. So these weekly check-ins are a nice journal of my life too!

A busy day of running around. We played hooky on Saturday and spent the day outside, but then we had to pay by scrambling all day Sunday to get ready for the upcoming work week. We cleaned, ran errands, and went grocery shopping. Trader Joe’s was packed, and we turned right around after seeing the long lines. We headed to a little Asian market that I used to frequent when I was unemployed (and cooking regularly), which was much less busy and even more reasonably priced. Laundry took forever since there were other people in the building vying for the machines (I finally went to bed, but Sam was up until 1 AM drying the last load). Our favorite Sunday night shows are dwindling now that the seasons are ending, but we’ll still get to enjoy Mad Men and Game of Thrones for another week or so. But just in time, the new season of Food Network Star premiered – my favorite summer show!
Bonus! I made my mama’s chicken and rice soup for dinner, and had lots of leftovers for the week ahead.

I love this top, but halfway through the day I discovered with horror that it’s more sheer than I thought! It didn’t look that way at the store or at home when I was dressing, but underneath the florescent lights of the office you could clearly see where my belly met my pants. Boo! So this shirt will have to be tucked in or worn casually in the future… I hate when items have conditions that make it harder to wear at work. The day was hectic from start to finish, and working out at the gym afterwards was much needed. I saved Food Network Star on the dvr so I could enjoy it Monday night – looks like it’s going to be a good season! I love it when the fun summer shows start airing.

I had a different outfit picked out, but when I woke up a cold snap had suddenly settled in the city. So I pulled this dress out, and layered on tights, booties, and a blazer. It was all feeling a bit funeral-ish, so I added a necklace to try to brighten it up a bit. Another crazy day at work, and another bout of stress relief at the gym. Can I just say (again, for the millionth time) that working out has done wonders for my stress levels and health? It’s really pretty amazing how much better I feel when I exercise regularly.

I couldn’t care less about what I wore on Wednesday… blame it on the mid-week slump. So I just threw on a printed top with a cardigan and black pants. Whatever works! Another busy day at work, and I went to the gym again afterwards.

This is one of those outfits that looks a lot better with heels – I guess the length of the skirt looks a little dowdy with flats. But I really loved it – I felt put together and professional, but totally comfortable too. Thursday flew by, and I worked out again after work.

Another infusion day, which meant a half day at work so I could get to the hospital. The wait time wasn’t too bad, but it was still after 6 by the time I got home (my appointment was at 2:30). The visit is always a bit draining, so I was ready to crash after a quick dinner out. I indulged in a few episodes of Parenthood – I’m finally catching up on the last season. I always forget how much I love that show!

Bustling Saturday to get ready for our trip to Seattle – lots to pack and clean and organize, but I love it! I had time to catch up with my BFF on the phone, and squeeze in a few more episodes of Parenthood, so I considered the day to be pretty ideal. We topped it off by going to see Before Midnight at the Kabuki Sundance theatre – it was so, so good! As we walked home, we talked about the movie the whole way and debated the merits of all three movies (Before Sunrise and before Sunset are the first two). I love movies that are provocative enough to inspire conversation long after we’ve left the theatre.
I’m linked up to The Pleated Poppy for WIWW!
