Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!
What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, and now in 2013 I’m adding a bit about my days to go along with the outfit. So these weekly check-ins are a nice journal of my life too!

grey/black color block dress // eBay
turquoise pendant necklace // Groop Dealz
studded skinny belt // Forever 21
black flats // PayLess
Simple black dress with a few accessories for our last meeting with Small Group for the year. I was scrambling around trying to get everything packed and ready for our trip to Seattle, so I didn’t have the patience to make anything special for the pot luck. Brownies from a box to the rescue!

floral peplum top // Belk
champagne pearls // eBay
black pants // Banana Republic
heels // PayLess
Fashion Diaries was the last thing on my mind Monday morning – I was already too excited about flying out to see my parents on Wednesday night! Unfortunately, there were still three full days of work to get through… but somehow the day passed quickly. I went to the gym after work and rewarded myself with Food Network Star on the DVR.

v-neck sweater // old
double strand of pearls // gift
grey pants // old
heels (not pictured) // PayLess
This was definitely a copout outfit – just add pearls! Work was busy, and I went to the gym again afterwards. Not much to say about Tuesday because my mind was definitely preoccupied! I wrote lots of lists and checked them over and over to make sure everything was ready to leave the next day.

red tunic // Reed’s
nude cami underneath // Old Navy
initial leaf necklace // Etsy
black skinny pants // Loft
blue-tipped flats // gift
I wasn’t sure what to wear to work that would also travel well, but I think this tunic and skinny pants worked well enough. I brought my suitcase to work and Sam met me by the office to take the BART to the airport. We got to the airport fairly quickly, but then security took forever to get through… we were actually pretty lucky that our flight was slightly delayed, or we might not have made it in time! Yikes! But once we were on the plane, everything went smoothly. We met my parents at the Seattle airport and then our vacation could really begin!

Thursday was a doubly special day – the first full day in Seattle with my parents, and also our fourth wedding anniversary! We took a day trip out of the city to see Snoqualmie Falls, the Northwest Train Museum, North Bend (and Twede’s Café, from the Twin Peaks TV show!), and Rattlesnake Lake – for more details, see yesterday’s post. It was a great day, although the traffic on the way back to the city dampened our spirits a bit. We were pretty tired, so we took the monorail toward Pike’s Market to find a place to eat dinner… only to discover that it completely shuts down by 7 PM every day! We settled for a French restaurant by Post Alley, which wasn’t really settling at all – it was so good! We rode the monorail back to Seattle Center and walked to our hotel downtown. By that time we were all ready to hit the hay!

Friday we woke up bright and early to board the ferry for whale watching. We had quite the adventure, but I’ll save all that for another post. Let’s just say the day ended with Mom on the news! But don’t worry, everyone was safe and sound – we just have a really good story to tell now! We ate at the Spaghetti Factory for dinner – the atmosphere was neat but the food wasn’t that great. We didn’t realize it was a chain, but I guess now we know it’s one place to skip if we come across one again.

Saturday was our last full day in Seattle. We managed to pack in quite a lot – the Space Needle, the Chihuly glass exhibit, lunch at the market at Pike’s Place, and finally a couple hours to rest back at the hotel before the wedding.
Bonus! Wedding attire 🙂
blue side tie dress // Ann Taylor
Pippa necklace // gift
nude wedges // Naturalizer
I love these shoes! I searched high and low for a nude wedge heel that would still be comfortable to walk in, and these fit the bill. I saved them to wear at the wedding for the first time but I’m looking forward to wearing them all summer long. The wedding was absolutely beautiful – the ceremony, the venue, the people, the music, even the food! It was a great way to end our whirlwind trip to Seattle.
