Last weekend, we decided to head down to the farmers market at Fort Mason in the Marina neighborhood. It’s a short bus ride down to Fisherman’s Wharf, and then a quick walk toward Fort Mason.
It was a very foggy, drizzly day. You could barely see Alcatraz through the fog, and only a few brave sailboats were out on the bay.
The farmers market was small, with lots of fresh produce and samples to taste.
There’s a coffee shop with a used book store in the back, sponsored by Friends of the Library. We perused the shelves and I almost bought a book, but decided not to at the last minute. My piles of unread books are starting to haunt me – I’ve let the list get out of control again!
We didn’t want to carry too much home, so we picked up some local honey and a few peaches. Next time we visit, I have my eye on the fresh pasta vendor, or maybe the salad mixes with edible flowers. The fresh bread looked great too, or maybe we’ll stay for lunch and choose the savory crepes… hmm, this is making me hungry again!
More city sights coming soon as we explore San Francisco!
