WIWW: June 30-July 6, 2013

Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!

The Amateur Librarian // What I Wore Wednesday

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, and now in 2013 I’m adding a bit about my days to go along with the outfit. So these weekly check-ins are a nice journal of my life too!

Maximum comfort for a lazy day.  This outfit is so boring that I had to add Cora to spice it up a bit.  I had a really off day – a combo of hormones and restlessness and lethargy.  Nothing was wrong, but I just didn’t feel great.  We went to a fun crepe house for brunch, I did a quick craft for my nautical wall, and I discovered that the new season of HGTV Design Star started in June, so there were four episodes to catch up on.  I used to be obsessed with HGTV but in the past couple years I’ve stopped watching almost completely – and now the programming exhausts me a bit.  So I could only watch two episodes before I was ready to turn off the TV.  We ate dinner way too early, so we took a walk around the neighborhood for something to do.  Listing all that makes it seem like a perfectly fine day… but I just couldn’t shake my bad mood.  I was ready to go to bed and start over!

Nothing like a short week at work to improve my mood!  I love the print on this swingy tank, and the cardigan brings it into office-appropriate territory.  The day included fundraising activities for a local charity, which was a fun break in the day.  After work, I went to the gym.

Our office leans toward the causal end of “business casual” but this is the kind of outfit I always imaginde one would wear in an office.  I love this printed pencil skirt, although I do wonder if it’s an inch too long.   Is it weird that one of my favorite parts of this job is dressing up in office-y outfits?  Sad but true.  The work day went by quickly, and I went to the gym again afterwards.

silver flats // Payless

Casual day before the holiday!  It was a bit foggy and cold in the morning, so I threw on a cardigan.  I picked up this mint green cardi on sale at Forever 21, but it shrunk a bit in the wash and now I can’t decide if it’s too short.  I’ll keep trying it, but it may end up in the donate pile… I hate it when that happens, but I guess it’s worse to hang on to items I never wear.  After work, Sam and I ate a quick dinner and then headed to North Beach for a pub crawl (blogged yesterday).  The best part, of course, was that we could sleep in the next day!

red coral necklace // eBay

navy cropped pants // Loft
silver flats // PayLess

Happy Independence Day!  Red, white, and blue of course, although I had to add a scarf because it got chilly after the sun went down.  We celebrated by lounging in pajamas til mid-morning, then stopping by Trader Joe’s for picnic supplies.  We ate our all-American meal of hot dogs, chips and dip, pineapple chunks, and pound cake for dessert.  We whiled the afternoon away watching Almost Famous, then walked down to Fisherman’s Wharves for the fireworks.  We went on a bay cruise to watch the show from the water, which was awesome!  (Blogged here.)

Friday was so weird… sometimes it felt like a Monday, and sometimes it felt like it was still a holiday and we shouldn’t be at work at all.  Casual dress with one of my favorite shirts!  It’s funny how I don’t actually wear my favorites that often, like I’m saving it for something special.  Anyway… somehow the work day went by and then the weekend arrived again!  We headed to Union Square so Sam could pick up a computer part, and we ate at the Nordstrom Bistro with great views of downtown.

Lazy fashion diaries for a busy day!  I suddenly realized that we had a flight in one week and nothing prepared.  So laundry, packing, and errands had to get done.  After a long day, we went to Fillmore Street for pizza and then headed to the Kabuki Sundance Theatre and saw The Way, Way Back.  Highly recommended – it was so good!  Just the right amount of substance and heart, with a healthy dose of comedy – my favorite kind of movie!

I’m linked up to The Pleated Poppy for WIWW!
