Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!

The Amateur Librarian // What I Wore Wednesday

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, and now in 2013 I’m adding a bit about my days to go along with the outfit. So these weekly check-ins are a mini journal of my life too!

Sunday was a foggy day for an outing to the craft fair at Fort Mason.  We stopped by the farmers market first for lunch, then perused the stalls at the fair.  The vendors were pretty intense – not exactly the DIY kind of crafts, but serious artisans with studios and expensive equipment for making jewelry or woodworking or metal welding.   It was impressive, but not anything that we could afford which was disappointing.  We headed home after a quick walk around, and puttered around doing errands for the rest of the day.

Monday started out drizzly and overcast… I just wanted to stay in bed!   I tucked this tee in at first, but halfway through the day it was driving me crazy so I tried it as a belted tunic and liked it a lot more.   After work I went to the gym.  We made baked potatoes with all the fixings for dinner… I’ve been craving McAllister’s lately and this was the closest I could get.

Bonus!  I guess it was a slow day because I had way too much fun with the Beautiful Mess photo editing app…

This skirt is so old, I can remember wearing it to church in high school.  I guess that’s why I love Loft… their pieces actually last a while!  I went to the gym again after work, the only time the entire day that I wasn’t in pain.  Crohn’s is no joke, you guys.  Even though my colon is clear of inflammation (thank you, colonoscopy) I still suffer from joint pain… and Tuesday was about the worst it’s ever been.  Sad face.

Wednesday I was a mess.  Chronic pain will drive you crazy… so I tried to be as kind to myself as possible.  I called all my doctors so at least I felt like I was taking control.  I cancelled my gym class.  When I got home after work, I ate ice cream and chocolate covered almonds and laid on the couch with a pillow and blanket to watch TV.  It was small comfort, but sometimes all I can do is try to appreciate the little things.  Along the way I’ve learned that being kind to yourself is about all you can do, sometimes.

skinny jeans // Abercrombie & Fitch via eBay
brown ankle strap wedges

Sick day… a doctor appointment in the morning, followed by napping on the couch and daytime TV.  I was in a lot of pain all day, but I was glad to have some time by myself.  I just needed a day to deal with the pain in my own way, before jumping back into reality.  Project Runway was a treat at the end of the day.

Casual Friday at the office.  I still wasn’t feeling well, but work was a great distraction.  I finally got a good pain medication from my doctors, which made everything seem better.  Sam and I ate lunch together, followed by a sale at Gap… finally, things were looking up!

Cheesy grin brought to you by a full night’s sleep!  It’s amazing what a couple uninterrupted hours of sleep can do. I still wanted to lay low for a while, so we stayed in and caught up on chores.  I started working on my next quilt… t’s been a while since I’ve gotten my sewing machine out, so it felt good to start a new project!  We went to see The Spectacular Now at the movie theatre – it was so good!  Very realistic portrayal of adolescence, awesome acting, and pretty powerful stuff.  Lots of conversation as we walked home.

I’m linked up to The Pleated Poppy for WIWW!
