High Five for Friday!

High Five for Friday!  I’m sharing the highlights of my week… five to be exact!  I love the idea of focusing on five little things that made me happy… definitely a fun way to recap the week and  and stay grateful!

1 – Italian festival.  Last weekend I was itching for a “do over” after a string of bad starts to our Saturday morning.  We got out of the house and wandered down to North Beach for lunch.  Along the way, we found a mini festival featuring traditional Italian dancers, music, and of course… Italian ice!  We were very patriotic with our color choices: green apple, lemon (white), and cherry.

2 – Sewing.  I snuck in some time to work on my new quilt… it’s still a secret since it’s a gift, so I can’t share too many details!  But it was nice to work on a project and play with fabric again.

3 – Book Club.  It’s great to have a designated catch-up session once a month, and reading new books is a bonus!  We usually meet at a crepe house and I decided to indulge in a pot of peppermint tea and a huge strawberry crepe… yum!

4 – Rice Bowls.  I’ve discovered a new favorite place nearby for lunch with awesome rice bowls made with fresh ingredients.  So far I’ve tried the teriyaki and Mediterranean bowls… and I’ll probably be recreating this at home too.  It’s exactly the type of food I love… a bed of grains (couscous, brown rice, quinoa, etc.), a bit of liquid seasoning (soy sauce, olive oil, etc.), and a variety of steamed add-ins: broccoli, edmame, peas, green beans, sliced cucumbers, carrots, etc.  Yum again!

5 – First Comes Love.  I watched this documentary on HBO and I loved it!  The filmmaker documents her own life as she decides to have a baby alone at the age of 40.  She explores her relationship with her parents, her friends, and even starts dating while she’s pregnant.  It was very poignant and sweet… highly recommend!

I’m linking up with Lauren Elizabeth for H54F!
