Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!
What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, and now in 2013 I’m adding a bit about my days to go along with the outfit. So these weekly check-ins are a mini journal of my life too!

T-shirt and jeans for a comfy day at home. We had to play catch up to get all the chores done, but there was still time to work on my new quilt a bit. The weekend was over before I knew it, whether I was ready for the work week or not!

I like this outfit in theory more than reality. I like the black on black, and the flowy top definitely needed slim bottoms for balance. I like the neutral with black, but the cropped cardigan just didn’t pair with the long top as well as I’d hoped. Oh well… next time I’ll try a different cardigan. My Monday was pretty uneventful work-wise, which is always a good thing. I skipped working out to go to book club… great time chit chatting with the girls, and Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry provided lots of discussion!

Another black and white outfit. Playing with textures is about as bold as I get, so it was fun to pair a lace top with the printed pencil skirt. Maybe a necklace in a fun color would have been good too, but I didn’t have enough time to think it through in the morning. After a pretty average day, I headed to the gym.

Sometimes… no matter what I planned to wear, I end up throwing everything on the floor and finally throwing on the last thing I pulled out (then I pick everything back up and put them on hangers… because with two cats, who knows how much hair I would find by the end of the day). So that’s how I ended up in this wrap top, which is exactly why I love to have a few go-to tops when I just can’t decide what to wear. Plus I love my new favorite cardigan, so I’ll take any excuse to wear it again! Another normal day at work, followed by working out at the gym.
striped dress // Target
circle pearl bead necklace // eBay
beige cardigan // Loft
brown ankle strap wedges // PayLess
I feel like I have to tone down this dress for work, so I paired it with a neutral cardigan. I love an easy dress, especially when the weather’s nice enough that I don’t have to worry about tights. Work was super busy, and I didn’t have time for lunch until late. I made the mistake of indulging in a large coffee… the effects of which made me hyper and then I worked out super hard at the gym, quickly followed by dizziness and feeling sick to my stomach. I ducked out early and drank lots of water plus some solid food to try to get all the caffeine out of my system. I need to remember that I don’t do well with caffeine on an empty stomach! Project Runway cheered me up, though, as usual!

Casual Friday! Slow day at work, which was fine by me. I tried to go to the gym… but a pipe in the locker room burst and all classes were cancelled… boo! (Fortunately everything was back up and running by Monday.) We celebrated the start of the weekend at our favorite restaurant.

Lazed around Saturday morning, and after lunch headed out to the Sutro Bath Ruins (blogged here). So fun! It was neat that you could clamber around the ruins right by the ocean, and then follow the coastal trails for great views. We went back home for naps after a few hours, and then capped off the night by seeing The World’s End at the movie theatre. Pretty much a perfect day!
