Double WIWW: December 15-21 and 22-28, 2013

Happy New Year!!  It’s hard to believe it’s 2014… and this marks year number three of daily fashion diaries!

And now another week of What I Wore Wednesday… this time a double!  Let’s wrap up the last couple weeks of 2013.

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, in 2013 I added a bit about my days to go along with the outfit, and I’m continuing the same tradition in 2014… So these weekly check-ins are a mini journal of my life too!

mustard dress // Deep South Pout
navy cardigan // Target
grey tights // Gap
ankle strap wedges // PayLess

We woke up bright and early to catch a Napa tour with my uncle.  We had a great tour guide and only six other guests, which made all the difference.  Probably my favorite tour yet!  We had plenty of time at each winery and never felt rushed.

tweed dress // Target
red cardigan // Tommy  Hilfiger outlet
pearls // gift
bow belt // eBay
black tights // Gap
black flats // PayLess

I almost wore this dress to the holiday party last week, until the powers that be declared the party casual.  Work was busy and I was beat by the end of the day… must have been a case of the Mondays mixed with wine tasting recovery!

polka dot top // Loft
cardigan with chain trim // Kohl’s
baroque pearls // eBay
black pants // Banana Republic
slingback wedges // PayLess

Later in the day I tucked this top in and liked it better.  Two of my uncles were coincidentally visiting San Francisco at the same time, so we all met up for dinner after work.  We went to a local Mediterranean restaurant and it was great to catch up with family.

December 18

floral peplum sweater // Belk
pearls // gift
black pants // Loft
heels // PayLess

I’m not sure if peplum is still a trend or not, but I love this sweater!  Work was busy, and afterwards we met up with one of my uncles for dinner again.   Another busy day!

red animal print dress // Loft
grey wool blazer // Loft
quatrefoil necklace // GroopDealz
black tights // Gap
booties // eBay

Wearing red twice in one week!  I don’t wear a lot of red on a regular basis, but for some reason I love wearing it during the holidays… probably subliminal messages from all the holiday decorations, ha!  Work was crazy busy but I managed to make it to a yoga class afterwards.  I’ve been super tense lately, and I definitely needed a quiet hour!

black lace top // Anthropologie via eBay
grey jeans // Abercrombie & Fitch via eBay
silver flats // PayLess

I worked a half day with an infusion in the afternoon.  It was stressful to get everything finished up at work, but afterwards I could sigh in relief that I was officially off for a week!  Everything went smoothly and we had a relaxing Fridaynight.

December 21

grey tee // Gap
workout capris // Gap
silver flats // PayLess

Due to the flight snafu, we had a day off before flying South.  I took full advantage and got laundry done, but I also had time to stitch, get a pedicure, and go to a movie!  (American Hustle was amazing!)  The delay turned out not to be the end of the world after all…

skinny jeans // Old Navy via eBay
nude flats // PayLess

Travel day!  Flying from SF to Birmingham took all day long… the airport shuttle picked us up at 8:45 AMand after a layover in Detroit we arrived at 9:30 PM… and then there was a 2 hour drive home.  The time difference definitely worked against us, although I was super relieved that there were no delays and we made it to MS!

The weather was pretty cold all week, which I enjoyed!  I met up with a co-worker for lunch, and spent the afternoon with her.  I love catching up on everything I’ve missed in the past year, but there’s never enough time!

Merry Xmas Eve!  We spent the day doing some last minute shopping and wrapping.  I love hanging out with Sam’s family,  although it did make me miss my parents and brother a lot.  It’s hard only getting to visit one family at a time, I want to have my cake and eat it too!

Merry Christmas!  We had a beautiful day hanging out with family, eating a huge meal, and opening presents.  A bunch of us went to see American Hustle (again!) and it was just as good the second time.  (Although in hindsight, we probably should’ve waited a little longer so the twist at the end wasn’t so fresh in my memory.)

I woke up early for after-Christmas sales and then met up with one of my BFFs to go shopping for wedding dresses.  I forgot how stressful it can be!  There’s so much pressure to find the “perfect” dress and have the “perfect” experience… yikes!  But we had fun and spent the rest of the day eating, window shopping, and talking our heads off.  I really, really miss living in the same town as my best friends when girls nights were regular activities!  We stayed up late watching chick flicks – it’s been a while since I’ve done a sleepover!   (We also tried hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps but it was not so successful… I couldn’t drink it at all!)

Friday was a busy day with old friends.  Breakfast with m BFF (I hate goodbyes!).  Then lunch was a double date with friends from college.  That night we met up with more friends from college for dinner and hanging out… it was a busy day but great to catch up!

I wore a new sweater for our last day in MS.  I met up with my BFF from college for brunch and shopping, which flew by so quickly I couldn’t believe it.  I missed lunch with Sam and some friends, but we all met up to check out a local thrift store.  I was determined not to add anything to my suitcase but I just couldn’t resist the vintage craft books… oops!  That afternoon there was a family birthday celebration for Sam and his cousin who shares the same birthday, and then dinner with Sam’s Dad.  Afterwards I packed up everything and went to bed early in anticipation of our 2:30 AM wakeup.  Our last day was definitely a bittersweet crazy busy day!
