WIWW: December 29, 2013 – January 4, 2014

And now another week of What I Wore Wednesday!

The Amateur Librarian // What I Wore Wednesday

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, in 2013 I added a bit about my days to go along with the outfit, and I’m continuing the same tradition in 2014… So these weekly check-ins are a mini journal of my life too!

We woke up super early to catch a 6:30 AM flight in Birmingham. Our first flight was quick and I was able to nap – I don’t even remember taking off!  We barely made our connecting flight in Atlanta, but luckily we made it just in time and everything went smoothly.  Our experience with Delta was really great this trip, and our long flights coming and going both had lots of movies and TV shows to watch on the seatback monitors.  I watched Sideways, Despicable Me 2, The Soup Investigates, and Cougartown… it was fun to check out new stuff!  We were home by early afternoon and exhausted, so we just laid around for the rest of the day.  I was battling homesickness, but it was fun to see the cats again.  I really do enjoy living in San Francisco, but I hate living so far away from all our family and friends!

I got all the way to the office before I remembered that we have casual dress all week… oops, great way to start a Monday! Work was pretty busy but the day went by quickly.  Sam was home sick so we celebrated his 27th birthday with soup and presents from under the Christmas tree… I guess he’s used to having a Christmas tree in the background with a birthday between holidays.

Fleece lined leggings are my new favorite thing in the whole world!  So super comfortable and warm, but not too hot.  Work seemed to drag by, but the day finally ended.  We didn’t have any plans for NYE since we were both recuperating from travel.  I wouldn’t have minded going out, but since Sam was sick we just ate at home and watched the ball drop on TV.  Not the most thrilling start to the new year, but I still had plenty of blessings to count.

First day of 2014!  I caught up on laundry and putted around cleaning and organizing.  Nothing very exciting, but it was nice to have a day to catch up after being out of town for a week.  I also broke out my brand new Maybook planner – one of my favorite parts of starting a new year!

argyle sweater // Banana Republic
skinny jeans // Abercrombie & Fitch via eBay
brown ankle boots // Deep South Pout

Gave my new Christmas booties a spin, and I really like them!  I’ve been looking for a heel that’s comfortable enough for walking around the city, and these are a winner!  I still have to figure out how to wear jeans with them… I tried on skinnier jeans which I think looked better with the boots but then the sweater/jeans combo seemed too tight… so I went with the tighter sweater and looser jeans.  I’ll figure it out eventually!  Going back to work wasn’t too bad and the day went by swiftly… and my reward was the return of Project Runway!

black lace top // Belk
bird print scarf // eBay
skinny jeans // Kohl’s
leather flats // gift

I used a Pinterest trick to make this regular scarf into an infinity – knotting the ends together!  Aha moment!  The day seemed to go by slowly because I was coming down with a cold, but a birthday lunch was a nice break with co-workers.  Another quiet Friday night… being sick is no fun!

Saturday we trekked down to Colma to check out a bridal store.  Being a long-distance bridesmaid means getting creative… so I tried on dresses, Sam snapped pics, and then my BFF and I consulted over texts.  And we were successful… can’t wait to get the alterations done!  No spoilers, though… you’ll have to wait for the wedding to see pics.  We hung out in the shopping center for a bit, visiting JoAnn’s for some craft stuff, looking for a frame (no luck) and buying a few movies at Best Buy.  On the way home we stopped at the BART stop closest to Flax, a legendary art store I’ve heard about but never visited.  It was huge!  I had a lot of fun stocking up on some drawing supplies.   Fun day!

I’m linked up to The Pleated Poppy for WIWW!
