Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!
What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, in 2013 I added a bit about my days to go along with the outfit, and I’m continuing the same tradition in 2014… So these weekly check-ins are a mini journal of my life too!

Beautiful warm day, even though the rest of the country was suffering from freezing weather! We caught up on laundry and cleaning at home, then decided to take the afternoon off to go see The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug in theatres. The movie was pretty good, pretty much what you would expect from the series by now… mostly I just love the whole experience of going to the movies!

black pants // Banana Republic

All black on a Monday… does it look like I’m excited for a full work week or what? I read somewhere that the first Monday after the New Year is called Blue Monday because everyone’s depressed that all the holiday excitement is over… guess I’m just like everyone else in America! Busy day at work, but at least I had Downton Abbey to look forward to that night! It airs pretty late on Sundays, especially because the premier was a two-hour special, so I usually wait to watch the new episodes on Monday. The first episode always seems a little boring to me, but it picked up and I’m looking forward to what’s in store for the rest of the season!
black lace dress // Forever 21 via eBay
floral cardigan // Banana Republic
gold tassel necklace // Forever 21 via eBay
black tights // Gap
ankle strap heels // eBay
I had way too much fun playing with my new tassel necklace all day long… another eBay find one night when I couldn’t sleep. Work went by quickly, and afterwards Sam and I decided to use a gift card and see a movie at a theatre close to work. Inside Llewyn Davis was amazing, and it was fun to do something out of the ordinary!
pink pleated top // Belk
tuxedo cardigan // Belk
black pants // Ann Taylor
black flats // PayLess
I found this cardigan in Mississippi over the holidays, and I love it for work! It’s hard to see, but it’s solid black and longer in the back, with the tuxedo lapels in front… I’m looking forward to pairing it with lots of other tops. I met the hubby for lunch at the food trucks, although it was a bit chilly to eat outside – but I know the 50’s are nothing to complain about compared to most of the country! After work we went to dinner with some friends of my parents who were visiting San Francisco. It was fun to catch up and see some familiar faces!
patterned shirt dress // Kohl’s
grey wool blazer // Loft
gold circle necklace // GroopDealz
grey tights // Gap
brown ankle boots // Deep South Pout
I really like this outfit! I needed tights and grey is the lightest shade I own, so I threw on the blazer to match and liked how it made the dress seem much more professional than a cardigan. And I still love my new ankle boots! Still very comfortable all day long, and they look better with a dress compared to jeans. Work seemed slow but I think it was because I was tired of going out every night… sometimes I just need a night at home to rejuvenate. So thank goodness for pizza and Project Runway! The All-Stars season ended and I was upset by the conclusion… I was rooting for Korto!
color block top // Gap
triangle necklace // Everyday Icing
black infinity scarf // gift
skinny jeans // Kohl’s
boots // Belk
I guess I was still tired on Friday because I slept through my alarm, but luckily not too much. On my lunch break I stopped by Naturalizer to check out their 70% Off Sale… and bumped into my parents’ friends there! They were spending their last day in the city before checking out Monterrey, so it was a fun coincident to run into them again! And I found a great purse at a steal too! I’ve been looking for a bigger cross body and I finally found one – I like having my hands free on the bus but I’m always fighting to stuff my wallet and planner into the smaller purses, so I’m excited I finally found a compromise.
ombre striped top // Gap
grey fleece lined leggings // Deep South Pout
silver flats // PayLess
Saturday was grey and rainy, which was perfect for the lazy day I had in mind – starting the Once Upon a Time sampler and a Harry Potter marathon! These fleece-lined leggings were extra cozy with a big tunic. I know there’s a debate on whether leggings constitute as pants, and although I think a long shirt is perfectly fine as long as your bum is covered, I still probably wouldn’t wear leggings as pants if I was going to be out and about in public. But at home, who cares! I got laundry and chores done, but for the most part I was stationed on the couch and loving it. We watched movies #1-3 with breaks for meals, but after dinner (and a glass of wine) I fell asleep in the middle of movie #4. Lazy weekends are the best!
