Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!

The Amateur Librarian // What I Wore Wednesday

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, in 2013 I added a bit about my days to go along with the outfit, and I’m continuing the same tradition in 2014… So these weekly check-ins are a mini journal of my life too!

skinny jeans // Old Navy via eBay
blue tipped flats // gift

Sunday I needed new makeup from a department store, so we headed to Macy’s in Union Square.  (I’ve been using foundation from a drugstore brand but felt like I needed more coverage during winter.  So when the bottle ran out I started looking around and decided to try Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Light – and so far I really like it!)  While we were downtown, we stopped by the fancy Walgreens (seriously, so fancy!  There’s a deli and two floors and their cosmetics aisles are fabulous) and then checked out Uniqlo.  We headed home after lunch and caught up on the fourth Harry Potter movie, but we took a break from the marathon for the Golden Globes.  I love award show season!

color block top // Belk
triangle necklace // Everyday Icing
open front blazer // Loft
black pants // Banana Republic
ankle strap heels // eBay

Easy look that could shift from work to book club afterwards.  Busy day at the office, and afterwards I stopped by the grocery store to throw something together for my book club’s holiday potluck.

Bonus!

Book Club!
Book Club!

Add jeans and boots.  It was fun to catch up with the girls in book club, although I hadn’t read the book… shame on me.  We had a great spread to eat and celebrated the holidays after the chaos of the actual holidays!

polka dot top // Loft
rust cardigan // Loft
geometric pendant // eBay
skinny pants // Loft
black flats // PayLess

I’m pretty sure this cardigan is more of a “rust” color than orange, so hopefully the color combo didn’t veer into Halloween territory.  Later I ended up tucking in the top at work, although I untucked it again for my doctor appointment… I’m just wishy washy like that!   I had an afternoon appointment with my gastroenterologist… fortunately there aren’t any health bombs these days and everything went smoothly, for which I’m grateful!  I ran some errands afterwards, but otherwise it was just another ordinary day in the life.

black/white print dress // Loft
pearls // gift
rhinestone zipper cardigan // thrifted
black tights // Gap
ankle strap heels // eBay

Nothing much to say about Wednesday… black and white outfit, work was fine, ate dinner, yadda yadda.   The usual 🙂

print dress // eBay
geometric necklace // GroopDealz
bow skinny belt // Target
black tights // Gap
brown ankle boots // Deep South Pout

In hindsight I wish I had worn black ankle boots instead of brown, although I still love these booties.  Another normal day.  Hubby went out with co-workers after work, so I had some time to stitch and ate sushi for dinner – a treat!  Tim Gunn’s new show Under the Gunn premiered and I thought I would hate it but I actually like it!  It’s a bit needlessly complicated and I rolled my eyes at one neurotic designer balling her eyes out, but it had enough elements of Project Runway that I’ll definitely stay tuned for the rest of the season.

pink tunic // Gap
chevron necklace // Deep South Pout
skinny jeans // Abercrombie & Fitch via eBay
brown ankle strap wedges // PayLess

I’m obsessed with this delicate chevron necklace – a gift card purchase that I lovelovelove!  Casual Friday at work, followed by dinner out at one of our favorite restaurants.  It’s a good thing I love quiet Friday nights, because most of ours are just that!

floral print top // Uniqlo
skinny jeans // Abercrombie & Fitch via eBay
silver flats // PayLess

I am hunting for a vest.  A vest would look great with this simple printed top, and I wouldn’t have to worry about a jacket on a mild (bust still chilly) day like Saturday.  In the meantime, my day was a flurry of activity – I was organizing!  And cleaning!  And purging!  And spending lots of quality time with my label maker!  I crossed off every single item on my To Do list with Harry Potter movies in the background… yep, the marathon continues!  We took a break from movies at home to see one in the theatre…. and Her did not disappoint!  It really made you think and inspired lots of conversation afterwards.

I’m linked up to The Pleated Poppy for WIWW!
