Double WIWW: February 2-8 and February 9-15, 2014

Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!

Now that the cat’s out of the bag, I can finally share my fashion diaries from the last couple weeks.  I didn’t want to post anything about our whirlwind trip to Nashville until everything was finalized… but now that it’s been announced at work and the movers are scheduled for next Friday, I guess it’s finally official!

The Amateur Librarian // What I Wore Wednesday

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, in 2013 I added a bit about my days to go along with the outfit, and I’m continuing the same tradition in 2014… So these weekly check-ins are a mini journal of my life too!

black boots // Belk

Cozy clothes for an windy, rainy adventure.  We walked down to Fort Mason with a pit stop at Starbucks to warm up with a hot chocolate, and ended up at the farmer’s market for a quick (and cold) lunch by the water.  We visited the Antiquarian Book, Print, and Paper Fair, which was really cool… lots of old books, maps, and photographs to ogle, although they were all out of my price range.  We headed back home in time for the Super Bowl… the highlight of which was a big dish of nachos for dinner!

Another Monday came too soon.  Busy day at work, and catching up at home… too much fun on the weekend means the laundry didn’t get done!  Oops…

Another busy day at the office.  After work, I went to Yoga on the Labyrinth at Grace Cathedral – it’s held every Tuesday but it’s the first time I’ve gone and I’m so glad I tried it out!  It was pretty cool to do yoga in such a grand space, and I definitely needed some calming time to myself.

Hubby can’t keep a surprise to save his life… so as soon as my V Day present arrived, he insisted I open it! He knows me so well… Pearls are always my favorite! Work was really busy, especially because I was about to be out for a couple days. After work I went to happy hour with some co-workers, which is always fun!

Travel clothes for our visit to Nashville… Even though I wasn’t the one interviewing, I was a bundle of nerves! Flying went pretty smoothly, although our connecting flight was delayed for a couple hours. With the delay and time zone differences, it took all day to get across the country and we arrived around 11 pm. I was nervous about driving our rental car… the first I’ve driven in almost 3 years!… But it came back immediately which was a relief.

A full, busy day… But a good day over all! Sam interviewed in the morning, while I explored a bit and tried to relax with a book at Starbucks. I was invited to lunch and had a great time meeting the whole company. That afternoon Sam returned to the office and I headed to The Factory in Franklin, a really cute renovated space with tons of shopping. I spent most of the time in a really neat antique store, it was so cool! We headed back to Nashville mid-afternoon… We were ready for a nap! After a couple hours of down time, we met up with a co-worker and her spouse for a drive around downtown and dinner in East Nashville. Margot’s was amazing, and so was Jeni’s ice cream for dessert!

We woke up to find that it was snowing! Just a few flurries, but it was fun to see out the window. We walked across the street to see Vanderbilt’s Parthenon and eat a bite for breakfast. Soon enough it was time to head out for a tour of historical downtown Franklin. It was great to see the sights and get a feel for the neighborhoods too. We were ready to crash by mid-afternoon, so luckily we had time for a nap. Any downtime we had, the Olympics were on in the background! We went out to dinner with another couple and then returned to downtown Nashville for a Predators hockey game. The game was so much fun! We were right by the ice and the penalty box, and right by all the action… Including one fight and one splintered hockey stick! It was a jam packed day, so we were ready to head back to the hotel to get some sleep!

Travel day back to SF… It was a bit surreal (and a little overwhelming) to go back to reality faced with a big decision… And lots to do!! We made it back safely and were happy to see the cats again. It felt like we’d been gone a week rather than one long weekend!

A day spent on tenterhooks… making big life decisions is stressful!  It felt so bizarre to make such an abrupt switch from driving around Nashville to returning to work in San Fran as if nothing had happened… and because it wasn’t official yet, I couldn’t say anything at work.  I was pretty swamped from catching up, so at least I was busy all day.  Instead of sitting all night waiting for a certain email, we relieved some of the suspense by going to see the Lego Movie.  It was really cute and funnier than I thought it would be!  It definitely took the edge off.

Another busy day at work, with the added stress of giving my two weeks’ notice and all of a sudden it felt very real… and so close!  Lots of phone calls going on to get the process of moving started, which was stressful but it felt good to finally start doing something.

I started coming down with a cold, which dampened my spirits a bit.  I tried to be as productive as possible, but it’s hard to get organized when you don’t feel great!  On my lunch break I scheduled vet appointments for the cats, ordered moving boxes from a local company, settled some medical stuff for a new doctor, and scheduled the cargo shipment to fly the cats out to stay with Sam’s grandparents in MS… whew!

I was officially sick, which officially stunk (stank?).  All I wanted to do was park it on the couch and watch the Olympics.  Which I did!  After an eight hour work day, of course.  Pizza helped.  And some Nyquil.

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Friday was better because it kicked off a holiday weekend!  Figuring out the logistics of our move in such a short amount of time has been tough, but at last some of the details started falling into place.  I wasn’t in much of a mood to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but we still managed to have quiet celebration at home.

Busy Saturday!  Two moving companies came by to give estimates, and we had a bunch of pre-cycled boxes delivered by a local company.  (Bay Area Box Express is awesome if you’re interested!)  After that, there was no excuse not to get started… so we got to packing!
