WIWW: March 2-8, 2014

Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!

The Amateur Librarian // What I Wore Wednesday

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, in 2013 I added a bit about my days to go along with the outfit, and I’m continuing the same tradition in 2014… So these weekly check-ins are a mini journal of my life too!

Our first full day in Nashville!  Finding an apartment is top priority, since we’re currently staying in a hotel.  We called a bunch of people from our list, but of course didn’t get in touch with many since it was the weekend.  One toured an apartment complex in the afternoon, but otherwise couldn’t do much.  At least we had the Oscars to keep us entertained Sunday night!  Not as much fun as the Golden Globes, but we had ballots to keep score of which movies won the awards we guessed, and a little friendly competition with my BFF and her fiance added to the suspense!  I guessed 16 (out of 24) correctly, but Sam took the cake with 22 correct predictions!

Ice Day… womp womp.  Instead of hitting the ground running, we were stuck in the hotel room all day due to icy roads.  Sam even had to work from home instead of going into the office for his first day!  We tried to make the best of it, but I can’t deny it was frustrating to delay our progress when we’re trying to get settled as quickly as possible.  At least I had plenty of time to look up more places online, and even get some reading and cross stitching in.

Hope you don’t mind a bunch of repeat outfits – suitcase living at its finest!  Hubby and I even had matching teal shirts on (it’s hard to tell in the pic), although his was devoid of lace (teehee).  The weather cleared up and I could finally do some driving around to check out apartments.  I saw four different places, none of them perfect.  It was a bit discouraging, especially since I was driving non stop all afternoon long, but I had to remind myself that Rome wasn’t built in a day…

Another day on the hunt – I saw three places, all of which I liked, so that was comforting… until we tried to visit them during rush hour after hubby got off work.  Holy traffic, batman!  It was intense… but a good lesson for figuring out the lay of the land around here.

Apparently I wear a lot of blue and grey when I’m dressing for myself!  It’s fun to be in casual clothes full time, although it’s probably not as interesting for the blog.  Oh well… Thursday was another busy day.  I ran around to see another batch of apartments and townhomes, and really liked another one in downtown Franklin only to discover that rush hour traffic crossed it off the list once again.  It took about 15-20 minutes during the day but over an hour of sitting in bumper to bumper traffic after work – no thanks!  Even though traffic was a bummer, it definitely helped us narrow down where we wanted to live… and we finally made a decision!

Finally Friday!  Ran around all morning to get a checking account set up and get everything done for our new apartment – including signing on the dotted line!  It was such a huge relief to finally have that settled!  We only hunted for a week but I feel like we got a good feel for the area and saw a pretty varied selection of options.  Friday was even better because my parents drove up to see us!  Living closer to family is the whole reason we moved in the first place, so it was great to enjoy that perk so soon!  We stopped by a car dealership that afternoon to get the ball rolling on our next big decision – buying a car!

Car shopping!  We visited three dealerships with lunch in between.  It was exhausting but we ended the day feeling pretty good about our options and ready to make a decision within a week or so.  The salesman made a huge difference at each place – too pushy definitely rubbed us the wrong way at dealership #1, too talkative was also not a great fit at dealership #3, but laid back was just right at dealership #2, and that’s exactly who we’ll be bringing our business to when we’re ready.  We had dinner at a so-so Mexican restaurant, but their margaritas were pretty great!

  1. I drove from Birmingham to Louisville very often in college, so I went straight through Nashville on I-65 and it seems like I inevitably came through at rush hour! So I feel your pain. I learned exactly what lane I needed to be in and when, so that helped it to be less stressful. 🙂

  2. You have the most beautiful wardrobe! I seriously love your style. I’m so glad I found your blog through the linkup. 🙂 My favorite pieces are that adorable leaf necklace and the striped/floral top… LOVE!

    xo Always, Abby
