WIWW: March 16-22, 2014

Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!

The Amateur Librarian // What I Wore Wednesday

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, in 2013 I added a bit about my days to go along with the outfit, and I’m continuing the same tradition in 2014… So these weekly check-ins are a mini journal of my life too!

Big day!  We said goodbye to my parents and waited for the moving truck to arrive… our stuff finally made it across the country!  The movers came around 2 PM and by 4:30 everything was unloaded and reassembled!  Unpacking the truck definitely took less time than packing… but both days it was raining off and on all day long!  Fortunately nothing was damaged and everything went smoothly.  We were exhausted by the end of it (even though, once again, we didn’t actually do any of the hard stuff) so we ate an early dinner and cleaned up before hitting the hay.

Monday was an overwhelming kind of day… definitely needed some liquid motivation to start tackling those mountains of boxes.  But on a much more serious and sad note, we found out that our friend passed away due to the drunk driving incident at the SXSW music festival.  The whole situation is heartbreaking, and still hard to process.   Sending lots of love to her family and friends.

Still haven’t gotten the closet organized, so even though the clothes are unpacked I’ve still been wearing the same few things I packed in the suitcase.  Maybe it’s time to branch out… even hubby asked if I own any other scarves, ha!  Another day of errands and unpacking nonstop.  Set up the kitchen mostly, and broke down a ton of boxes.

Another cold front… and another day spent unpacking and organizing.  Unpacking is the worst, since you have to figure out where everything goes and start new organization systems for each space… sometimes I have to just sit and think a while before proceeding.  I tackled the closet, but it was still a few days before getting it functional.

More unpacking, but at least I was finally getting to the fun part – unloading all the books!  They were the last boxes piled up in the dining room, so it was nice to get them all broken down.  I had a lot of fun organizing the bookshelves in color order (post on that coming tomorrow!).  I had a bunch of broken down boxes left over, and fortunately someone in our complex was moving out the same day so they were able to use them.  It’s pretty weird moving from an extremely recycling-conscious city where our landlord gets in trouble if we don’t compost correctly to a new city where recycling isn’t an easy option… I feel really guilty about all our waste, so I was glad the boxes could be reused!

Friday!  Not quite as exciting when you’re unemployed… but I was definitely looking forward to Saturday when we would pick up the cats!  Worked on cat-proofing the apartment as much as possible.

We met Sam’s grandparents halfway to pick up the cats on Saturday.  The drive wasn’t bad and the scenery was pretty… it’s been fun getting to explore a new state!  Funny story… we got to the meeting place early, so we wandered around and hung out until Sam’s grandparents called… and we found out that we were at the wrong hotel!  Oops!  Luckily we were only a few minutes away from the actual meeting place.  The tradeoff went smoothly and once we got home the kitties sniffed got settled… as you can see they both looked a bit wary all day!  But by the end of the night they seemed more comfortable.

I’m linked up to The Pleated Poppy for WIWW!
