Another week of What I Wore Wednesday!

The Amateur Librarian // What I Wore Wednesday

What I Wore Wednesday is my motivation for wearing the clothes I own, finding new ways to mix and match outfits, and not wearing the same three things all the time! I kept a fashion diary for the entire year of 2012, in 2013 I added a bit about my days to go along with the outfit, and I’m continuing the same tradition in 2014… So these weekly check-ins are a mini journal of my life too!

Happy Father’s Day! Wish I could’ve been with my Dad to celebrate, but a phone call had to do.  Otherwise, Sunday was a pretty relaxed day to wrap up the weekend with an audiobook (Code Name Verity – so good!), some time at the sewing machine, making some of my mama’s soup, and the season finale of Game of Thrones (!!!).  I almost forgot about fashion diaries, but I couldn’t break my streak!

On Monday I set my alarm an hour earlier to go for my little 2.5 mi walk, and although it was hard to wake up at first, it was great to have some quiet time to myself.  I’m going to try to keep up with it during the work week, we’ll see how it goes! Once I got back it was amazing how much time I had to get ready since I was wide awake and not sleepwalking through everything.  This top used to have an elastic band at the bottom and I never really liked how it fit, so I took out the elastic and now I love it!  Also, this necklace is a favorite.  Not a bad start for a Monday!

The second morning it was harder to wake up, but I did it, and had another good walk before work.  This is a favorite dress, and a contender for another wedding later this summer… I keep looking for a summery dress at my usual haunts (Loft, Charming Charlie’s, Kohl’s) but I’m coming up short.  So many of my dresses are work-appropriate but pretty muted in color… but this one might work for double duty.  Otherwise, typical Tuesday.

silver initial leaf necklace // Etsy
black skinny pants // Gap
ankle strap heels // eBay
I guess I’m the last lady in America to find a chambray button down, but I finally found one I liked!  Not that I’ve been looking too hard, but this one jumped out at me on clearance so I finally have one in my closet now.  Probably just in time for it to go out of style, but oh well!  I think my hesitation these past couple years when they’ve been so popular is the whole denim on denim thing so I’ll probably stick to black or colored pants with this top. But I was happy that it seemed work appropriate with some heels added. Busy day at work, once again.  I had a nice surprise at the end of the day – my quilt ladder arrived in the mail!  Super excited to have it in the living room and fill it up with quilts!

Got back on the bandwagon and went for another walk, then threw on a dress and called it a day.  Otherwise, not much to say!

sailboat pendant // GroopDealz
olive green skinny pants // Gap
cutout flats // PayLess
TGIF! Finished up the work week with another walk – 4 out of 5 days isn’t bad!  It’s funny how colored pants used to seem totally out of my comfort zone, but they instantly make a t-shirt feel like an “outfit.” My office is casual enough that I could probably wear this during the week too, instead of saving it for casual Friday. I love my half days on Friday – best perk of working part-time for sure!  One afternoon a week is plenty of time to run some errands, get a couple loads of wash out of the way, and spend some time with my sewing machine. I treasure my alone time now that I’m working again – I guess I really am an introvert, ha! We started the weekend our favorite way, at the movies! (Edge of Tomorrow was really good!)

Gathered my gear together and headed to a meeting with the Music City Modern Quilt Guild. I didn’t know what to expect, but it was so much fun to meet a group of like-minded people! I love the online community but I haven’t spent much time with real-life quilters, so that was cool! That afternoon we headed to the Westhaven Porch Fest to check out the live music and food trucks. Fun stuff!
