We had a great getaway last week with a quick trip down to the Gulf Coast with hubby’s family. Pics below!
We split our road trip over two days… vacay officially started on July 4th on our drive down to see my parents.
We had a great low key holiday: fresh peach daiquiris, browsing a book store and renting a movie (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty – good stuff!), corn hole in the backyard, dinner on the grill…
and a firework show in the neighborhood. Love it!
And of course, my favorite little brother Clyde!
The next day we finished up our journey down to the Gulf Coast. It was so good to see family and the beach again! After dinner, we set up camp on the beach for another fireworks show – not a bad start to vacation!
The rest of our days were beach days… the weather was beautiful, the water was warm, I went on early morning walks most mornings, and I had plenty of quality time with a couple books. My greatest success was warding off sunburn… definitely made beach life more enjoyable!
Somehow our last full day came around quickly, so we made the most it… slept in instead of walking, spent another morning on the beach and in the water, and treated ourselves to a New Orleans sno ball mid-afternoon.
On our last night we the whole family went on a sunset dolphin cruise… the sunset was beautiful! We saw a small pod following the shrimping boats, very cool! It was the perfect goodbye.
The next day I went on one last walk and then we packed up to leave… sad face.
On our way back home we stopped in Montgomery, AL for lunch at Dreamland BBQ and briefly walked through the Riverfront since we were already downtown… looks neat but the middle of the day is too hot to muster much enthusiasm. So back in the car we went… and eight hours later, we were sure happy to get home and say hi to the cats!
And now it’s been a week already… time flies! Til next time, beach….
