I’m super excited to join in on Freshly Pieced‘s Fair Isle Sew-Along! I love the pattern but it’s a bit intimidating and bigger than what I usually make… which is why I jumped at the chance to make it along with lots of others for tips and motivation. Each week will tackle one row of the quilt, and in eight weeks I should have a completed quilt (cross your fingers, knock on wood, pinky swear, etc.) … here we go!
Week Four: Zig Zag blocks
So… technically, we were supposed to do the reindeer blocks for week 4. But I knew that with my parents visiting and a busy weekend, I probably wouldn’t have time to tackle a complicated block. So I switched up the weeks and did the red zig zag rows instead. They weren’t tricky little buggers, but probably just a taste of what comes next with the pixelated reindeer. I am just so, so glad that this is a sew-along so I’m not going it alone! Not sure I would have the motivation otherwise, but it’s been a fun challenge!
I had some time to start prepping the reindeer blocks, so I have a head start when I have more time to work on them next weekend. Hopefully I can stay on track during the week of Thanksgiving, but that might not happen.
Week 5 starts today, the zig zag blocks… but since I’m already done with those I’ll just keep plugging away at those Reindeer! Hopefully I’ll have them done by next week so I can go ahead and get back on schedule. Either way, stay tuned for another update next week!
