Happy Thanksgiving from the Amateur Librarian! Hope you’re having a family-filled (and food-filled) day! We’re in Mississippi with hubby’s family this year, and it’s been so nice to take a deep breath and enjoy a break.

If you want to play along, here’s the template:

Then it is [season]!
When I first used this idea in an elementary school setting, we spent some time brainstorming nouns, adjectives, and verbs (great excuse to dig up the thesaurus!) on a big anchor chart, then we mixed and matched words in the template to create our poems… good times! For some reason this lesson sticks in my head as a fond memory, I guess because it was a relaxed afternoon activity right before the holiday break.
