I bet you were starting to think that all I can do is PIN my crafty progress these days… but after a weekend at home, I finally had some time to actually do something with all my pent-up crafty energy!
With my Friday afternoon off (thank you, office summer hours!), I spent some time at JoAnn’s to buy fabric for a Modern Maples quilt. (I’m using this pattern but with this layout, via Pinterest.) I picked out shades of blue, trying to stay in the navy family with but still enough value variation. At first I thought I would go scrappy with the low-volume background, but decided to go with one fabric in the end. I chose a low-volume text print with a vintage vibe that I think suits the recipient.
Once home, I spent the weekend listening to podcasts and cutting. I’ve missed my sewing time so much over the past few months! I haven’t even touched my machine since the April MCMQG meeting… too long!
Next up is putting the blocks together, then the layout. I’m also contemplating how I want to quilt it… I would love to send it off to a longarm quilter to have a professional finish, but it’s probably not a good idea since we’re officially in money-saving mode.
I’ve also been cross stitching a bit… the Woodland Sampler is going by quickly and I’m trying not to get too far ahead since I enjoy stitching each block as the months of the year go by.
I might just have to find another cross stitch project, it’s so relaxing during after-dinner TV time.
And that’s about it!
