Reading Right Now

You know the drill… here’s a mid-month peek at what I’m Reading Right Now!
…Breakfast Book…
The Book of Strange New Things, by Michel Faber
The Amateur Librarian // May 2015 Reading Log
A month later, I’m still reading this one, but it’s so, so good! I’m really enjoying the realistic characters plopped in the midst of an out-of-this-world (literally!) plot. The native aliens of a distant planet request a preacher to teach them about “the book of strange new things”… so an English preacher is chosen to travel across space, leaving his wife on Earth. I look forward to reading this every morning during breakfast – I’m actually enjoying the slow pace, I don’t want it to end!
…On the Kindle…
The Titan’s Curse (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #3, by Rick Riordan
The Amateur Librarian // June 2015 Reading Log
It’s been a few months since I picked up a Percy Jackson book, but I felt like some good old-fashioned Greek mythology. Fun, light-hearted YA adventure is perfect for reading on the go.
…After Hours…
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, by Jesse Andrews
The Amateur Librarian // June 2015 Reading Log
The movie reviews are good… and I’ve heard the same about the book! It’s impossible not to compare to The Fault in Our Stars, with another teen with cancer, but I’m assured that it’s entirely different. So far I’ve been laughing out loud every couple pages… which is a good sign for a book about cancer!
A Corner of White, by Jaclyn Moriarty
The Amateur Librarian // June 2015 Reading Log
When I’m sewing, I’m usually listening to a podcast or audiobook… and with Sync offering free audiobooks all summer long, I’ve got plenty to choose from! Two teenagers searching for their fathers find that they can communicate across worlds – one in modern day London, the other in a world where colors can attack. I have to admit, the plot of this YA fantasy didn’t pique my interest until I realized that it’s written by Liane Moriarty’s sister. I’m hoping that talent runs in the family… and so far, so good!

What are you reading right now?
