Last weekend wrapped up another year of meetings with the Music City Modern Quilt Guild – I’m so thankful I found this group of ladies when I moved here last year! I’ve made so many new friends and I’m inspired every month by their creativity and artistry.
The December meeting was so much fun – from the potluck full of goodies, to the Secret Santa swap unveiling so much secret sewing, to the infamous Dirty Santa which features a room full of grown women fighting (nicely) over pretty yards of fabric (don’t think being a new member will shield you from stealing, just ask Vicky!).
I finally got to give my partner her Secret Santa mini quilt, and I received an awesome swap gift in return too. Isn’t this patchwork tote bag awesome? The extra goodies inside the tote were a sweet surprise too. And of course an original hoop of vintage fabric gave it away that Melinda was the one-and-only maker!
I made a mini quilt for my partner, a QAYG log cabin pinwheel featuring her adorable dachshunds – just like her pet Al 🙂 Ashley is a fan of all things cute, so I tried to go all out with the right colors and novelty fabrics. It’s always fun to make something with someone else in mind!
A few progress pics…
I kept it as simple as possible with the quilting and binding for a quick finish – and as soon as the last stitch was done I packed up my whole sewing room. (Spoiler alert: not going to be finishing that Christmas quilt any time soon…) The secret sewing is done for the year and I have one more project to share once the holidays are officially over.
I’m linking up to Crazy Mom Quilts for Finish Friday!
