Another weekly update on my current Works in Progress 🙂
Sail Away Cross Stitch
I started a new cross stitch last week, a nautical design from the Hands on Design company’s Square-Ology line. I bought three of their adorable designs at a local shop, Stitchin’ Post, and I can’t wait to see this mini trio side by side when they’re all done. The charts are really unique – just one quarter is shown, then you rotate the chart to complete all four parts. I’m using a navy blue aida fabric for two of them, and a sparkly green aida from Pictures this Plus for the third, and I’m planning on framing them in white wooden frames when done.
First up is Sail Around. Love the ships, especially as it comes together. And the 4″x4″ design is quick and fun to pick up when I have a few minutes… or when I’m watching past seasons of The Great British Bake Off (thank goodness they were downloaded before we moved, since we didn’t have internet for 2 weeks!).
When I was working on the third quarter, I realized I did it wrong – I was rotating the fabric instead of the chart, so my stitches are going in different directions where the quarters meet up. Rookie mistake!! Live and learn… I decided to keep going anyway, but I’ll do it correctly on the other two designs. After one quarter was done, I used a photo app to make a mockup of what the final design should look like:

And that’s about it!
