Meow Monday: The Many Misadventures of Cora

Before the move in December, we noticed that Cora was leaving messes in odd places, but we chalked it up to anxiety during the packing process. When we noticed blood in her urine, we took her to the vet but they agreed it was probably stress and didn’t have enough time to get a urine sample. Fast forward to last week, when we noticed blood once again, and started to wonder if her crying and excessive trips to the litter box were adding up to more than just “acting out” due to the move.

Cora is definitely our “difficult” cat… when she was an indoor/outdoor cat a few years ago, she was always the one stuck up a tree, on top of the roof, locked inside a neighbor’s apartment, caught by animal control, etc… all before her second birthday. She has mellowed as she’s gotten older, but she usually saves her sweet moments for home when no one else is around. Guests and vets usually don’t think she is as sweet as we do… but when we realized she had a bladder stone and needed surgery we knew we would be paying up to get it done as soon as possible. So last Wednesday, she spent the night at the vet’s and had the surgery done first thing the next morning.

We were tickled that we could watch her recovery on the the “vet cam” and were rest assured that she was alert and not in pain all day.

By that night she was home safe and sound, and she’s back to her normal self again.

We can’t do much to keep her from jumping on top of furniture, but she seems to be taking it a bit easier while her stitches heal. Glad to have her home and back to her old self!
