The Music City Modern Quilt Guild Retreat last weekend at the Paris Landing State Park was a blast! We got lots of sewing done and enjoyed even more chatting/laughing/eating/drinking! I’m still getting my photos together of all the sewing I accomplished so I’ll save that for tomorrow.
Today, here’s a look at the Paris Landing state park that hosted the retreat, in the small town of Buchanon (pronounced Buck-hannon, how Southern can you get?!) near the Kentucky border and Paris, TN. (Unfortunately we didn’t make it to the Eiffel Tower. Sad face!) Some of us stayed in the Inn, in the same building as the conference room where we set up our sewing machines, and some of us stayed in cabins a couple miles away.
I was in the latter camp, sharing a cabin with four others. The common room was great, with a fireplace and huge windows overlooking the lake, and the 3 BR/2BA plus kitchen was plenty of space. The whole place could probably use some updating, but it was affordable and clean enough for a weekend getaway. Even in the off season there were plenty of people at the Inn’s restaurant and quite a few cabins, so I bet this place is hopping during the summer when everyone is on the lake and in the swimming pools. The cabins were right across the lake from the conference center, but a couple minutes away by car… if only we had a little boat we could probably get to the cabins even quicker!
On Saturday a few of us took a break from sewing to walk around the park. We walked down to the marina, then up into the woods to see the cabin views. It was a gorgeous day – warm in the sun but mostly overcast – so the 60 degree weather felt perfect.
More city sights coming soon as I explore the Nashville area!
