I don’t know why this post has taken me so long to write, but this quilt has been finished and photographed for a month now… so I’m plowing through and spitting some words out just to get it out there!
Vintage Star Quilt
finished size: 70″ x 70″
pattern: Vintage Star Quilt by Jeni Baker (free tutorial here)
fabrics: Heather Ross prints, mostly Briar Rose and Tiger Lily
quilting by Studio V
I started this quilt at the Music City MQG Retreat way back in February. I found out I was pregnant only a couple weeks before, so I hadn’t told many people yet, but I knew I wanted to make this quilt for my baby. I had been hoarding fat quarters of Heather Ross prints and knew that it was finally time to cut into them… and this pattern was perfect because it really showcases the prints. Several months later, Amelia is here and the quilt is ready for her to enjoy!
The top came together so quickly that I don’t have many progress pics, but here are the few that I have:
I almost forgot that the top left corner got a red wine stain on it during the retreat… oops! Luckily Oxyclean (and a mountain of salt) did the trick and now you’d never know. I’m sure it will earn many more stains down the road!
Along with the Firefly baby quilt, this is the other one that my quilty friend helped rescue by finishing the binding when my machine went on the fritz. Without her, it would probably still be sitting unfinished!
New quilts get the honor of hanging in the entry! It’s taken me so long to post these photos that I’ve actually taken it down and replaced it with a Christmas quilt. But come springtime, I bet it will make another appearance.
Ta da!
