Another weekly update on my current Works in Progress 🙂
Round Robin Quilt
Last Friday my quilters guild had an Open Sew Night at our regular meeting place, and it was just the jumpstart I needed to tackle a couple projects I’ve been putting off. I brought Amelia along to get set up, and needless to say I didn’t get much done… but it was fun for her to meet my quilty friends, and she loved being passed around. After bedtime, I came back and got on a roll.
I have been super stumped on my next round of the Round Robin quilts, but crowdsourcing some help got me going again. I’m working on Emily’s round and she’s working on mine… so we decided that spoilers were A-OK, and she basically gave the go-ahead on the direction of her quilt, which was a huge help!
I also worked on a taggie soft block, which I’ve been meaning to do for the last couple months (!!), and I’m glad I finally tried it because I definitely need to do some fine tuning. I used 5″ charm squares, which are too big, and I think I used too many tags as well. I haven’t actually finished one yet, and I know that the baby won’t care if it’s perfect, but I’ll keep tweaking it until I’m happy with it.
Over the weekend I had a burst of motivation to make some needle minders… something I’ve wanted to do for years! All I needed were magnets and super glue, which I picked up while we were at Home Depot on an unrelated errand, and a couple hours later I had some cute and useful new friends!
I’ve been saving these buttons from my trip to Mood while we were in NYC last summer for just this occasion!
Once the glue was drying on the buttons, I had to make more! I found a fabric-covered button kit in my craft stash from when I first planned to make some of these years ago, and once I started fussy cutting I couldn’t stop.
I don’t know why I waited so long… in fact, I’m going to order more supplies because these were so fun to make. I’ll put a quick tutorial up soon!
Citrus Biscornu Cross Stitch
Finally finished the first side of the biscornu pincushion! I am working on the backstitching around the perimeter, and then I can start on the underside. I’m still hoping to get this one done before the next Sweet as Pie Club clue is released in a couple weeks… I think I can, I think I can…
And that’s about it!
